Vermicelli Upma | Semiya Upma | Vermicelli Recipe

Ingredients:

Semiya upma

Semiya upma

Roasted vermicelli – 2 cup
green chilli-2
water – 4 cups
grated coconut – 3 tsp
salt – to taste
oil – 2 tsp
mustard – 1/2 tsp
urad dhal – 1/2 tsp
curry leaves – to garnish

Method:

1. First roast the vermicelli in a pan by adding little ghee.
2. Take a pan, add oil, mustard, urad dhal and sliced chilli
3. Now add grated coconut and water.
4. Add salt and allow the water to boil.
5. Once water boils add the vermicelli and stir well.
6. Allow it to cook by  keeping it closed.
7. Once the water is absorbed ,garnish with curry leaves.

Hot and easy vermicelli upma ready. Best with pickles.

Spicy Pongal|South Indian Ven Pongal|White pongal

ven-pongalIngredients:

Rice- 2 cups
moong dhal- 1 cup
black pepper-2 tsp
jeera-1 tsp
ginger-1 tsp(chopped)
curry leaves – to garnish
ghee/oil-3 tsp
water-6 cups
salt-to taste

Method:

1.Fry the moong dhal on dry pan for few minutes.
2.Mix the rice, moong dhal and salt and cook it by adding 6 cups of water.
3.Take the black pepper, jeera and grind it to fine powder.
4.Take a pan add oil/ghee and add the grinded pepper and add over the cooked pongal.
5.Add the ginger and mix well.
6.Garnish with curry leaves.
All time favourite pongal ready.

Rava Khichidi|Vegetable upma|Rava recipe|Sooji Khichdi

Ingredients:

Rava/sooji – 1cup
chopped onion – 1
vegetables chopped – 1 cup
(beans, carrot, peas, potato, cauliflower)
green chilli – 2
oil – 2tsp
mustard – 1/2 tsp
urad dhal – 1 tsp
salt – to taste
turmeric – a pinch
water
curry & corriander leaves

Method:

1. First get the vegetables cooked by adding water and pinch of salt.
2. Take a tawa, add oil and mustard. Allow it to pop up.
3. Add urad dhal, chopped onion, chillis and cooked vegetables.
4. Add turmeric and salt required. Add water for cooking rava.
5. Now add the rava and stir well.
6. Leave it for few minutes. Garnish with curry and corriander leaves.

Ingredients:

Idly – 5 nos smashed

Oil – 4 tsp

Mustard – 1/2 tsp

Chilli or idly molaga podi – 2 tsp

Salt-to taste

Sugar – 1/2 tsp

Urad dhal – 1/2 tsp

Channa dhal – 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Take a tawa and add oil.
  2. Now add mustard, urad and channa dhal, cook it to golden brown.
  3. Add the smashed idly and sprinkle chilli powder, salt and sugar.
  4. Mix well and serve hot.

Fried Idly|Idly recipe|Spicy idly

Ingredients:

Idly – 5 nos

Chopped onion-1cup

Oil-3tsp

Mustard-1/2 tsp

Urad dhal-1/2 tsp

Channa dhal-1/2 tsp

Chilli powder-1 tsp

Salt –to taste

Curry leaves.

Method:

  1. Cut the idly in to pieces.
  2. Take a tawa, add oil and mustard seeds.
  3. After mustard pops out, add channa and urad dhals.
  4. Add onion, once the dhal turns golden brown.
  5. Now add the chilli powder and salt and mix well.
  6. Finally add the idly pieces and mix well.

Add curry leaves and serve hot.
